Intellectual freedom.

What does the phrase mean? To us, it means an environment to inspire and set free the curiosity for knowledge and the urge to think. The environment, we believe, is achievable in the debate community.

Cogitare has been aiming to maintain an intellectually free environment in our classes and to introduce more students into debate since 2020, and we wish to help our students find their academic passion through student-initiated discussions. 

At the same time, the debate community is not perfect. We need you, the inspired new debaters, to help us.

We need to constantly safeguard debate from turning into a generic "resume filler". Debate is the art of the language, and the science of the logic. The intrinsic value of debate should be the reason to pursue it.

And we believe, through our collaboration in this project, we could make the community a better place - the place that we found our voices, and the place that we all fell in love with.
